VEEDERSBURG — Virgil L. Oilar, 84, Veedersburg, died at 10:18 a.m. Sunday, April 7, 2002 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He was born Dec. 12, 1917 in Veedersburg, the son of William F. and Irma O. Mitchell Oilar. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart with two bronze stars. Survivors include: two daughters, Donna Lyons, Pontiac, Ill. and Janet Strange, Waterloo, Ala.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. The body was cremated. Memorial services were at 1 p.m. Friday in the U.P.C. Church, Pontiac, Ill. A burial service will be scheduled at a later date. Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, was in charge of arrangements. – jlr
